Inheritance Tax Planning Seminars
Due to popular demand, our Inheritance Tax Planning Seminars are back!
Inheritance Tax can be an emotive subject. You may resent the prospect of your loved ones paying tax on your estate at 40% when you have already paid large amounts of tax during your lifetime.
If your estate is worth more than £325,000 (or £650,000 if you are a couple), you should consider taking Inheritance Tax advice.
This Spring, our experienced team of financial planners and solicitors specialising in Inheritance Tax will be hosting free seminars across Surrey and London.

Networking Event - Ideas InitiativeThe Spring event sees two expert speakers providing their top tips on preparing a business for sale. One will be speaking from the perspective of a business owner who has successfully grown a business and sold it. The other from a buyer’s perspective; what they are looking for when buying a business and what are the key drivers to increasing business value.
In addition two teams will battle it out for supremacy of business thinking and negotiation tactics. Team one are shareholders of a business who are looking to sell – what would they accept for their business now and or should they wait and sell in 5 years time, what’s the risk, what’s the value? Team two – are looking to buy a business – should they buy Team 1’s business and what would they pay for it, how will they drive growth over the next 5 years and
what could it worth then? The teams will comprise of some of the sharpest entrepreneurial brains in the country and each will be joined by a student from The University of Surrey. They will be set a real life business case study and given equal resources and limited time to propose their own strategy and solution.
We invite you to join us to see their recommendations presented and understand the thinking that underpins their strategy. The teams will be judged by a panel of experienced ‘Dragons’ who will pull no punches, they will have the actual business valuation in sealed envelopes. It promises to be a lively evening. And of course there will be a chance to enjoy a glass of wine and meet your fellow delegates, team members and speakers.

Seminars
Who will spend your kids' inheritance?
The much hyped pre-election promise to increase the threshold for inheritance tax (IHT) was quickly abandoned in the government’s drive to reduce the deficit after the bailout of the banks. Now, the threshold has been frozen for five years, bringing more and more estates into the chancellor’s net. It is forecast that the government will collect inheritance tax of £2.2 billion in 2010/11, rising to £2.9 billion in 2014/15 – an increase of £700 million (Office for Budget Responsibility Forecast, June 2010).
Hart Brown solicitors are running a free seminar on sensible strategies to reduce the impact of this 40% tax. As one of the few solicitor practices with both legal and financial planning experts in house, we are well placed to assist you with your estate planning. So why not come along to see if you’ve already been caught and to plan your escape?
Our expert speakers will give a short presentation of the current situation, after which there will be an opportunity to ask questions over a glass and a nibble.
