Commercial Business - Purchase of Assets

Buying assets is different to buying a company or an entire business.

When you are buying the assets of a company you can pick and chose what you want to buy. For example you might only want to buy:

  • the machinery
  • the stock
  • the existing contracts

You will usually not be taking on any of the business’ liabilities.

You will however want to make sure that:

  • the assets correspond to what the seller is telling you
  • the value of the asset is what you believe it to be
  • if you are buying machinery it is in working order

At Hart Brown our specialists will guide you through the process. We will carry out due diligence on the assets you want to buy so you are safe in the knowledge that you are getting what you thought you were buying.

To speak to someone who can advise on asset sales or any other legal matters relating to your business call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
