Hart Brown's charitable trusts

Over the years, various partners at Hart Brown have been nominated as trustees of a number of Charitable trusts. Some of these trusts are set up to benefit the local communities.

The most recent charties where partners of Hart Brown have been involved as trustees include:

1. The Ed and Doris Hunt Memorial Fund.  This was set up following a bequest made by Ed & Doris Hunt in their wills. The trustees made a significant gift of all the funds in the trust to the Wey and Arun Canal Trust and the Ed and Doris Hunt Memorial Fund has now been wound up. The money was used for work on the north (Guildford) end of the canal near Shalford.

2. The Betty Riseley Trust. This was set up following a bequest made by Betty Riseley in her will (she died in 2007). In accordance with the terms of the charitable trust, the trustees make gifts to local organisations who are working for the benefit of local (Surrey-based) children (aged 18 and under).  The charity objects mentions beneficiaries as being disabled or impoverished children but gives the trustees quite a broad discretion as to who they can make gifts to. Thus money has been given to wide ranging beneficiaries such as the Farncombe Scouts and Brownies for improvements to their hut, Cranleigh Parish Council for a piece of equipment at a play park, a Youth Cafe to pay general running expenses, a charity which assists bereaved youths to pay for a Grief support worker and many others. If you would like to apply for a gift from the Betty Riseley Trust, please fill in the application form.

3. The Woodspring Trust.  This was set up further to a very generous lifetime gift made by a Hart Brown client, with the idea that the charity or   gift would support organisations or groups which work in conservation or improving the environment including the work of the client's daughter who works in Tanzania. If you would like to apply for a grant from the Woodspring Trust, please fill in the application form and return to Hart Brown.
