Shareholder Agreements

If you are starting a new company you are probably more excited about the work the company is going to undertake. You will also think that there is no prospect of you falling out with your fellow shareholders.

Unfortunately disputes between shareholders do arise quite frequently. They can include disputes about:

  • the powers and rights that directors have
  • what happens if a shareholder dies
  • how a shareholder can sell their shares
  • how and when a shareholder has their say
  • rights and obligations between the shareholders and the company

Clear shareholder agreements are an essential first step when starting a business. If your business is already trading and you don’t have a shareholder’s agreement, put one in place as soon as possible. It will avoid problems later on.

We can discuss with you what needs to be covered in a shareholders agreement and we are able to give a clear indication as to the cost of preparing an agreement for you.

To speak to someone who can help with shareholder agreements or any other legal matters relating to your business call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
