Database Rights

Databases are protected by copyright and owned by the parties who produce them – the writer owns the database.

It is easy to breach the owner’s database rights if, without the consent of the author, the contents are used by third parties for their own purposes.

An example is an employee or director leaving a company and using the customer details from the company’s database to entice customers away.

At Hart Brown we can advise you on how to protect your rights as a database owner or if you are not the owner what use you can make of a database. We will make sure you fully understand your rights so you do not find yourself in expensive litigation.

To speak to someone who can advise on database rights or any other legal matters relating to your business call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
