Service Charge Disputes
Service Charges are payment for services relating to the general maintenance of a property’s communal areas such as lifts, lighting or gardens. Unfortunately it is frequently a source of dispute between a tenant and landlord.
Our experience is that the main areas of dispute tend to include:
- amount of charges
- failure of works being done properly
- failure of works being done at all
- standard of works
We regularly advise residential and commercial tenants about a landlord’s failure to carry out works which form part of the service charges, properly or at all, even when the service charge has been paid.
We can advise on when it is possible to withhold payment of the service charge and what to do when a landlord or management company simply fails to carry out their obligations.
To speak to someone who can help with a service charge dispute or any other commercial litigation claim call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
