Accountants

The wide range of work carried out by accountants includes auditing, advice on business structures, management buy outs, takeovers and mergers, taxation advice, administering trusts and settlements and insolvency (both individual bankruptcies and company liquidations).

An accountant will only be guilty of negligence if they have failed to act with the care and skill to be expected of a reasonably competent accountant practising in that particular area of work.  Since not every mistake involves accounting negligence you need to use specialist professional negligence lawyers like those at Hart Brown to advise you whether you have a claim for your accountant’s malpractice or not.  If we do not think it is worth your while to  make a negligence claim we will tell you at the earliest opportunity.  Accountant liability can include the following:-

  • Inadequate planning, control and recording of an audit
  • Errors in accounts
  • Bad advice for example in relation to taxation or the valuation of shares

Despite the complexity of some of these claims (which usually involve getting expert evidence from another accountant) we will make things as straightforward as possible keeping you fully informed every step of the way.

To speak to a specialist professional negligence lawyer who can help you with your professional negligence claim against an accountant or any other professional contact us today by  calling, emailing or requesting a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
