Gerard Sanders Receives Law Society Recognition

News | 6th September 2017

Gerard Sanders has become a member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme.

The Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme covers all work undertaken by solicitors and suitably qualified fellows and members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), on behalf of victims and their dependants, who have suffered personal injuries or fatal injuries as a result of an alleged act of negligence or breach of statutory duty. The scheme covers all types of personal injury work.

The accreditation ensures that clients, and/or their representatives, can easily identify legal practitioners with proven competency in personal injury law, having been working on personal injury cases for at least three years prior to applying for the scheme. A person will have shown that they have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skill, experience and practice in the area of personal injury.

Gerard, promoted to Partner at Hart Brown in July, has a high level of expertise in claimant personal injury work, having specialised exclusively in this area of law since 1995. More recently he has focused on complex higher value clinical negligence and personal injury claims. His greatest success was winning the high profile case of Delaney-v-The Secretary of State for Transport where after almost 9 years of litigation involving two Court of Appeal hearings and an application to the Supreme Court he was finally able to establish that the Motor Insurers’ Bureau Agreement was incompatible with EEC law. As a direct result of the decision, the agreement has had to be amended to the benefit of many future victims of uninsured drivers.

On becoming a member, Nigel Maud, Hart Brown Chief Operating Officer said:

“Recognition such as this from the Law Society is testament to the dedication and the very highest level of skill and expertise that we see Gerard display in all of his cases. Personal Injury is an area of law needing a very particular skillset. Gerard exemplifies the best in the legal profession. On behalf of everyone at Hart Brown, I would like to congratulate Gerard on his success”

Gerard’s professional qualifications include a Diplome D’Etudes Juridiques Francaises from Strasbourg University.
