Buying a property is one of the most expensive purchases you will ever make. Making a property look good while hiding a multitude of sins is easy.
Unless you are a builder, surveyor or knowledgeable about properties you may not always know what lies beneath a fresh coat of paint. It could be a costly mistake.
We recommend always having a survey done there are different types of surveys including:
- a full Structural Survey. This is a full in-depth survey which checks out the whole property. We recommend this type of survey for an old property or a property of high value.
- a Valuation. If you are buying with the help of a mortgage the lender will require a valuation. The lender will want to be sure that the property is sufficient security for the amount they are lending.
- a Home Buyers Report. This is midway between a valuation and a full structural survey. It will deal with the structure of the property and the main aspects of a property.
