Surveys

Buying a property is one of the most expensive purchases you will ever make. Making a property look good while hiding a multitude of sins is easy.

Unless you are a builder, surveyor or knowledgeable about properties you may not always know what lies beneath a fresh coat of paint. It could be a costly mistake.

We recommend always having a survey done there are different types of surveys including:

  • a full Structural Survey. This is a full in-depth survey which checks out the whole property. We recommend this type of survey for an old property or a property of high value.
  • a Valuation. If you are buying with the help of a mortgage the lender will require a valuation. The lender will want to be sure that the property is sufficient security for the amount they are lending.
  • a Home Buyers Report.  This is midway between a valuation and a full structural survey. It will deal with the structure of the property and the main aspects of a property.

If you are unsure about whom to use, what kind of survey to have or would like to discuss the survey report our specialists at Hart Brown will be happy to speak to you. We can also put you in touch with reputable surveyors.

As part of the purchasing process at Hart Brown our specialists will take you through the survey report carefully so that you know what additional costs you might face if you decide to go ahead.
