Mortgages

Most of us don’t have the ready cash available to purchase a property outright. Therefore if you are buying a property you will probably do so with the help of a mortgage. There are many different kinds of mortgages and they can be quite complicated.

We recommend that you find out how much a lender will lend you before you find a property you might like to buy.

Once you have found a property to buy and your offer has been accepted you need to make a full application to the lender as quickly as possible. So long as you meet:

  • the financial requirements
  • the property valuation is acceptable to the lender

a mortgage offer will be issued to you. This will however take some time and you will not be able to proceed with your purchase until the offer has been received.

The lender will also want to make sure that there are no problems with the property and in particular the title.  They will insist on a solicitor dealing with the matter on their behalf.
