Sub-tenants
We can advise sub-tenants on all aspect of renting premises but key areas on which we regularly provide advice include:
- your entitlement to sub-let
- what to do when a landlord unreasonably withholds their consent to sub-let
- where the landlord is alleging unlawful sub-letting.
- a sub-tenant's right to remain in possession where there is an insolvent head landlord
- a sub-tenant’s obligations under the sub-lease
- a sub-tenant’s obligations under the head lease particularly the payment of rent where the head lease has been disclaimed.
Sub-tenants may not always be aware of what is happening with their landlord where the landlord is not the freehold owner of the premises. Knowing your rights is important.
