Discrimination

Discrimination law covers a wide range of situations and  aims to ensure that everyone is given an equal opportunity not only when applying for a job but having obtained it, during the employment itself. It is possible to be discriminated against on the grounds of:

  • race and religion
  • sex and sexual orientation
  • marital status
  • disability
  • age
  • “other irrelevant ground” a new term introduced by the European Human Rights Convention

Employers are legally responsible for the actions of their employees so any claim you might have could be against both the person who has discriminated against you and your employer. There is no limit on the financial compensation which can be awarded but you do need to make sure that you bring your claim within a specified time limit.

We at Hart Brown have helped clients in connection with all types of discrimination. We understand how upsetting it is to be discriminated against and how serious potentially losing your job can be. We will help you every step of the way. We aim to find the best solution for you and obtain the highest compensation if a claim in the employment tribunal has to be brought.

To speak to someone who can help with a discrimination issue or any other employment matter call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
