Sex Discrimination
An employer can discriminate against their employer on the grounds of sex in a number of ways including:
- where one gender is given greater opportunities than another whether during recruitment, training, or opportunities for promotion
- paying men more than women or women more than men for the same job
- unfair treatment or dismissal as a result of a woman taking maternity leave or a pregnancy related absence or a man taking paternity leave
- treating a women returning from maternity leave less favourably than before
- refusing to allow flexi-time or part time work without good reason
- comments being made for example by a work colleague of a sexual nature
