Sexual Orientation and Gender Reassignment

An employer can discriminate against an employee on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender reassignment in many ways including:

  • banter or inappropriate jokes by other members of staff about the sexual orientation or gender reassignment which result in an offensive, humiliating, intimidating or degrading atmosphere
  • a failure to recruit or the way in which the recruitment process is handled
  • a failure to promote
  • a failure to train
  • a failure to pay equally with comparable employees

We have advised employees on matters including:

  • whether conduct amounts to gender reassignment or sexual orientation discrimination
  • bringing claims on the grounds of discrimination
  • settling claims

As with all other forms of discrimination claims, the amount of compensation that can be awarded is unlimited.

To speak to someone who can help with sexual orientation and gender reassignment issues or any other employment related issue call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
