Personal Protection Orders or Non-Molestation Orders
A non-molestation order or personal protection order prohibits one person from molesting another.
Molestation covers a wide range of behaviour including:
- persistent pestering
- threats of violence
- actual acts of violence
The behaviour must be sufficiently serious to justify court involvement.
The court will want to consider the effect the alleged behaviour is having on the person making the application and any minor children.
If an order is made, it can:
- prohibit specific acts described in the order
- forbid molestation generally
At Hart Brown our specialist family lawyers can advise you on the likelihood of a court making such an order, help you obtain or defend one and advise you on what to do if the order is being breached.
We understand that in these emotionally charged situations it is important to act quickly.
To speak to someone who can help with non-molestation or personal protection orders, call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
