Divorce
Although there is frequent talk of introducing a no-fault based divorce system, the courts still require that the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage is supported by one of :the following grounds:
- adultery
- unreasonable behaviour
- desertion
- two years’ separation with your spouse’s consent or five years’ separation without consent
We will discuss with you the appropriate ground for divorce, the choice of courts and guide you through the whole process including:
- what to expect and the likely duration of proceedings
- the costs and court fees involved
- completion of relevant forms
- when to apply for the final decree of divorce and the possible effects of the divorce itself
Our aim is to reduce the amount of time spent in court. A divorce which is uncontested allows both of you to focus on your children and financial matters. We have an excellent record of bringing and responding to divorce proceedings on behalf of both petitioners and respondents. We will help reduce your anxiety and upset at what is a difficult time.
