Capital

Dividing up your capital assets can lead to many arguments.  In addition you may also be arguing about what assets should be included in the ‘matrimonial pot’.  Capital assets can include:

  • the matrimonial home and other properties
  • shares and savings
  • pensions

At Hart Brown our family lawyers will:

  • discuss with you your particular circumstances
  • explain how your capital assets should be divided
  • explain the approach the court will take
  • tell you what you might reasonably expect to receive
  • try to help you reach agreement
  • help you achieve the best settlement

If you cannot reach agreement about how the capital should be divided we will guide you through the court process including emergency injunctions to prevent assets being filtered away. Our advice will be practical, realistic and cost effective. Our independent financial advisors can also help with valuing shares and pension  funds.

To speak to someone about capital division call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
