What are trusts?
A trust is an arrangement where assets are held by one or more people (the trustees) for the benefit of one or more other people (the beneficiaries).
Trusts (also known as settlements) have for a long time played an important role in families’ estate planning arrangements.
Any adult who is of sound mind can create a trust, either during their lifetime or, after death, through their will.
If a trust is the right vehicle for you we will also advise you on what type of trust would be best, the selection of trustees and beneficiaries and the practical and tax implications.
We will then prepare and deal with completion of the trust deed and help with the transfer of assets to the trustees and with organising the management and administration of the trust.
If you are a trustee of an existing trust, we will advise on all aspects of the management and administration of the trust, including compliance issues, trust investments, trust accounts, trust tax, general management and administrative issues, trust disputes and finally how to wind up the trust.
At Hart Brown we have many years experience of advising on trusts. We approach the subject knowing that many people have little or no practical experience or knowledge of trusts. We will explain the legal, practical and tax implications and help you choose and set up a trust that best suits your needs and objectives.
To speak to someone who can advise on a trust call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
