General Power of Attorney

Generally, when people talk about powers of attorney, they are thinking of Lasting Powers of Attorney or Enduring Powers of Attorney, which assist when a person loses their mental capacity to make decisions.

However, it is also possible to make a General Power of Attorney to cover situations where:

  • someone becomes physically incapacitated and needs to appoint attorneys to carry out certain tasks on their behalf
  • specific tasks need to be dealt with, such as completing paperwork on the sale of a property and the owner is abroad for a few months
  • trustees of trusts want to appoint attorneys to carry out their functions as trustees for up to one year if for example the trustees are going to be out of the country

To speak to someone who can help with general powers of attorney call, email or request a call back from one of our specialist lawyers.
