Marek is an acknowledged expert in personal injury and clinical negligence claims having been involved in a number of high profile and ground breaking cases.

Marek is an active member of the AvMA (Action against Medical Accidents), Clinical Negligence panel and separately of the Law Society's Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury panels.  He is a senior litigator member of APIL (the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) as well as being a member of the Funding Review Panel of the Legal Services Commission and a Committee member of the Surrey Law Society.

He is regularly asked to speak on local radio to give his views on a wide range of legal issues.

Evidence of his profile in this area is that he is the co-author (together with a  High Court Judge) of “The Conduct of Proceedings,” a chapter in “Powers, Harris and Barton” (4th Edition, 2008) a book widely regarded as the leading text book on medical negligence claims.

Although Marek handles all types of personal injury and medical negligence claims he has a particular expertise in dealing with high value and complicated clinical negligence cases.  In 1998 he recovered £2.3million in damages – the largest reported settlement for that type of case at the time.  In 1999 he managed to recover the costs of Viagra treatment for a client with spinal injuries which received a lot of press attention.  In 2005 he achieved a settlement of over £300,000 for a child with Erb’s Palsy - once again one of the biggest awards at that time for that type of case.  The highest settlement he has ever achieved is an award in the region of £5million for a victim of cerebral palsy.  Most recently he recovered £3million for a child with brain injury sustained at birth.  Overall he has recovered in excess of £20million in compensation for his clients

Having joined Hart Brown as a trainee in 1989 he qualified as a solicitor in 1991 becoming a partner in 1995.  He is recommended to clients by other solicitors, medical experts and barristers (including leading QC’s). As Dr Michael Powers QC commented:- “Marek has an exceptional ability to deal diligently with the important and fine details of these cases.  It is this precision and attention to detail which leads to his success as a clinical negligence lawyer.  He is charming with his clients, involving them fully and sympathetically at every stage of the case”.

He is always a rock of support to victims of medical and other accidents which clients really appreciate especially in difficult times. As his clients say:-

"Neither of us really thought we'd win against such giants as the MDU (the Medical Defence Union) and an NHS Trust! Just goes to show what can be achieved by having an absolutely brilliant solicitor. The money will make a huge difference to my son's life... Sincere thanks to you Marek, we will always be grateful for what you did for us."

“Marek is brilliant at his job and I have no doubt at all we got the great result we did because of his skill”.
