Susan Stainsby

Susan is a qualified CIPD HR professional and is responsible for the firm's HR and Facilities functions. She has a wealth of generalist HR and pensions experience gained in the Legal sector, charities and publishing.

Susan joined Hart Brown in 2014 and works closely with the senior management team, giving advice at both operational and strategic level.

    Eva is CIPD qualified having worked for several years within an HR setting, she also has a great deal of client facing experience. Alongside the day to day HR administration, Eva works to support the firm's wellbeing initiatives, Health & Safety obligations and the firm-wide learning and development programme.

      Private Client Lawyer – Cobham office

      We are looking for an experienced Private Client lawyer to join our very busy Cobham office.

      The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of PQE with an in-depth technical experience of a full range of cases such as wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney, probate, inheritance tax, and estate planning.  Being able  to run your own files is essential, as well as being able to display high organisational skills and attention to details.

      Good business development and networking skills are also useful to contribute to the department’s continued growth.

      You will be working as part of a dedicated and friendly team across all of our offices. With our supportive and encouraging work culture, there are opportunities for progression within the firm.

      Key Responsibilities

      Attending and advising new and existing clients in an efficient and effective manner, advising potential new clients and accepting new instructions. Recording all advice given.

      Liaising with clients on a regular basis, liaising with third parties in connection with client matters; expert witnesses, courts, counsel, beneficiaries, probate registry, HMRC etc.

      Liaising with secretaries to ensure timely production of documents; letters, attendance notes, briefs etc.

      Keeping up to date with personal Learning and Development plan, ensuring that good practice has been reflected on and any identified learning and development requirements have been addressed.

      Ensuring the accurate recording of time.

      Billing clients promptly and getting money on account if appropriate, liaising with accounts department over money received, invoices sent and credit control.

      Complying with SRA rules currently in force regarding client accounts, professional conduct, client care etc.

      Undertaking regular business development activities to promote the firm’s services and develop business.

      Achieving targets set for billing and chargeable hours.
